My family is considering going on vacation to California this summer for a week, but we don’t know where to go. If anyone knows one of the best cities to visit and things to do there, I’d greatly appreciate it!

So, when we got engaged last year, my mother in law said that she would take care of our honeymoon as a gift to us. She said that the only stipulation was that she would get to pick where we went for a week. She said she would make sure it was somewhere nice and run some ideas by us to make sure it wasn’t something we would hate. Originally, it was going to be Disney World. Then, California (like a road trip kind of thing), then Vegas, and then she said she would just give us a thousand bucks and her car and we could go wherever. The other day, she told my fiance that she didn’t think she was going to do our Honeymoon afterall. Our wedding is 2 1/2 months away. We are a one income couple with no extra cash. Ever. Now, I’m stuck with trying to find somewhere for us to go that is nice, but inexpensive. Any ideas? We live in Northern, Illinois, but we would travel anywhere as long as the price was right. I’m wondering about any all-inclusive resorts or well, just anything.

My boyfriend and I are planning a romantic weekend away. We are planning on staying at either the hilton in horseheads Ny or the Mariott in Corning NY. Any suggestions? Do the Hilton Garden Inns have number beds? We planned on doing the wine tour as well, any idea if there are cabs around that area that will take us to the hotel and around??

We have company coming, we live in the Monterey area, and they want to see the redwoods. I am not driving north of San Francisco on 4th of July weekend. So, I am wondering if we can see the redwoods in Big Sur without going into Pfeiffer Park.

trying to figure my options out. im deciding between:
Humboldt State University
San Jose State
CSU Fresno
Mount St. Mary’s College

I really really love Humboldt because of the location (rural, surrounded by redwood forests). i love the community (there is some kind of fair going on every weekend whether it be apple harvesting or 4/20 celebrations). i also love that the student body is liberal and the town filled with hippies. BUT it does have the stoner reputation which im afraid will make future employers iffy about hiring me.

SJSU is my parents ideal choice for me because its only 50 minutes away and i could visit every weekend. BUT its REALLLY boring and san jose is not the best college town.

CSU Fresno is the largest one (over 25,000) and its a typical campus with football obsessed people. BUT i HATE Fresno because its boring with farms and climate that will give me a heat stroke.

MSMC is PRIVATE but its mostly ALL GIRLS except for people in the nursing major (mine). and its CHRISTIAN which will really piss me off because im a practicing Jew and my grandma said she would kill me if i went to a christian school. but its in LA which is a great city with a lot to do.

my grandmother just visited my uncle in san diego. and she told me that my cousin’s summer vacation isn’t the usual 3 months that I have. She said that they don’t have that. And she was informed by my cousin, with this information and he goes to school. Is this true or is this just in my cousin’s school. My cousin lives in Chula Vista by the way. and he doesn’t go to a private school also, so can anyone help me ?

Ok this might get a little confusing but please try. there is a young-ish girl & I’m pretty sure that she’s deaf & dumb but her "parents" hire i think a ex-detective type person 2 take her somewhere or something. on the way there they stop at a cabin, he’s an artist so he goes outside 2 paint a picture and somehow they end up n an alternate universe or something where they’re being chased by creatures & in the end i’m pretty sure but not 100% positive that the girl ends up being the queen or something. that was the first one. the second one i remember the cover of the book and just a very few details. the cover was yellow and had a big oak or redwood tree on it with a girl and a walking stick. and in the book there was a lake and it took place in a huge forest and had a lot of random creatures and…the only other thing i remember is that the book was about 1" thick. i don’t know. like i said it was vague but ANY ideas would be great. thanks i appreciate you trying.

Ive seen very similar features as the humboldt squid being caught here. Are they the same or different species?

We don’t have too much money to spare, but my husband-to-be has family in San Francisco who have said if we pay for the flights they will put us up in in their "Granny flat" for 3 weeks for our honeymoon.

By the time we get there, we will be legally married according the laws of Northern Ireland. Because of the timing, my passport will still have my maiden name on it (it will just take far too long to get it changed before we fly) but we will have our wedding certificate.

Obviously, as newlyweds, we’ll be spending a lot of time doing what newlyweds do, but according to the California Penal code, this is illegal. It comes under "carnal abuse of children".

Reading into it, the fact our age difference is only a year (I’m 17, he’s 18) means it is a "misdemeanor" – as opposed to a "felony" if the age difference was 3 years, nevertheless, it would make him a criminal.

Since we will be a legally married couple, albeit from another country, would there be an exception here – or do we need to find another place to go?
