Can humboldt squids be found here in the Philippines?
Ive seen very similar features as the humboldt squid being caught here. Are they the same or different species?

As far as I know, the Humboldt squid (Dosidicus gigas) is only found in the eastern Pacific – along the coast of South America and North America (approximately within the Humboldt current, for which they are named).
Recently, the Humboldt squid has been found to be expanding their range northwards – being found as far north as Sitka, Alaska (it was formerly thought that Monterey Bay in northern California was the northern end of their range).
It’s quite possible that they may actually be found further west than previously thought as well.
I suspect that what you’re seeing is another species, though. However I don’t know enough about other species of squid to even make a guess as to what that species might be.
