I have a 40′ tall redwood in my backyard. I’m just curious to learn more about having such a tree having never been a homeowner, let alone tree owner, before. I know the roots grow shallow and intermingle with other roots (or other things that might be a root – a water pipe for instance), but not sure what the roots will do when then hit something like a pool?

For the past few years i have become increasingly interested about going on a northern California hiking/ camping trip to the great redwoods. However i have done alot of research and would still like to get the perspective of someone who’s been or hopefully even lives in nor. cal. What i am looking to do is find out what the best places in northern California are for hiking in the mountainous redwoods, overlooking beautiful lakes and breathtaking natural wonders and scenery, (natural dirt paths, not paved) . My main research on the trip has been mostly looking into Humboldt county and the surrounding cities and have heard about the amazing redwood hikes, bikes and walks that the small towns offer. I would ultimately like to go up there for at-least a few days and really get a wholesome experience of nature at it’s finest. Lush redwood trails that lead to mountain view and lake views, any help would be much appreciated, thank’s guys.

I’m hand-making chop sticks for one of my friends for the holidays. I want to use redwood but I’m not sure if redwood is safe to eat off of (I plan on using mineral oil to finish them). Is redwood safe to use and what other woods are safe to eat off of?

Really like they ask something like "what are the positions on the offensive line?" or something dumb like "how tall is a redwood tree?"

Any grizzly bears gonna eat us if we go walking around out there?

Where are best places to really SEE the big trees? We’re family of 4 (Mom, Dad, 2 girls) heading down there soon.

I have a wooden wand (redwood) that snapped at the handle. I used Gorilla wood glue to put it back together, and it’s been a day and a half since I glued it. It seems to be holding well.

However, there is access glue that I want to get off. I have been trying to do so with a damp washcloth, but it doesn’t seem to be doing the trick. I don’t want to put too much pressure on it so it won’t break again. Help?

wow you guys really know your stuff i did a search on them and they are nice flowers. So now i have one more question, the area i’m placing the red chips and flowers in is like 5×6 feet. How should i organize the flowers, should there be 3 groups of flowers? 2?

I wanna know what time we’ll be able to start playing with sparklers.
