We live in San Diego, CA and I DO NOT want to stay in southern California for his birthday since its a big one. I would prefer to stay in California but I am open to anything. My husbands outgoing loves the outdoors but I would like it some what romantic. Please give good places to go to and what there is to do there, stay and eat. Thank you for all your suggestions

I’m looking for any unique, fun, inexpensive (under 5 please) places to stay anywhere north of San Francisco by the 101 up to about the Redwood National Park. I’m looking for things like tree houses, log cabins, teepees, weird decor, "Roadside America"-type places. Thanks a lot!

So, when we got engaged last year, my mother in law said that she would take care of our honeymoon as a gift to us. She said that the only stipulation was that she would get to pick where we went for a week. She said she would make sure it was somewhere nice and run some ideas by us to make sure it wasn’t something we would hate. Originally, it was going to be Disney World. Then, California (like a road trip kind of thing), then Vegas, and then she said she would just give us a thousand bucks and her car and we could go wherever. The other day, she told my fiance that she didn’t think she was going to do our Honeymoon afterall. Our wedding is 2 1/2 months away. We are a one income couple with no extra cash. Ever. Now, I’m stuck with trying to find somewhere for us to go that is nice, but inexpensive. Any ideas? We live in Northern, Illinois, but we would travel anywhere as long as the price was right. I’m wondering about any all-inclusive resorts or well, just anything.
I will like to do some horse back riding, mountain climbing snorkling or something fun and out door. Some sight seeing will be good.
Yosemite looks to rainy and the waterfalls aren’t up to speed yet, Arches and Zion look cold and wet. Skiing will be done. And we aren’t Vegas people! Open to any and all suggestions for a vacation for 2 adults in SanFran. Flying to Mexico might be good, but eats up an entire day of travel to get there. Any other ideas?
