The Calif Vacation Club with which I am familiar involves a flt into LAX. After arriving a shuttle takes you to Carson, about 10 mi s/o the airport and you rent an RV. From there you can go the River, Mountains etc with a boat or jet ski. Some people bring an additional couple and have a blast. the website compares the costs of the vacation vs. owning all the vehicles involved. Multiyear contract though forces a major payment commitment. Timeshares are never easy to resell but this might be different.
