Does anyone know of an intimate rural wedding location around New York/New England?
I am hoping to find something in the mountains (Catskills, Berkshires…) and it would be great if it had some sort of water…like a lake. Money is not an issue…I just want it to be perfect. The wedding will be relatively small (50-100 people, not sure yet) and I am hoping to have the ceremony and the reception at the same place (NOT a church). Maybe a beautiful inn with a garden of some kind? Does anybody have any good ideas? I’m considering the Seven Hills Inn and the Garden Gables Inn in Lenox, MA, and The Inn at Castle Hill in Ipswich, MA, but I’ve really just started looking.
Thank you so much!!

This place is just south of New York, but not by much it’s right near the border in Ringwood, NJ. I went to a wedding here and it was absolutely breathtaking. It’s called The Castle At Skylands Manor. They have amazing flower gardens (I didn’t get to see them in bloom only in pictures because the wedding I went to was in the winter) and it’s a national park, so there were hills and mountains and lakes and the roads to get there were amazing, there was even a small waterfall on the property. They have a chapel that has original stone steps and over looks a beautiful lake, and that’s just the tip of the ice berg. The Castle itself was so great! We got to stay in the castle and our room was gorgeous. They have awesome suites all true to the castle time period and so pretty and cozy. They did a cocktail hour that went throughout the main rooms of the castle and then the reception in a ballroom with hand painted ceilings. It was one of the best weddings I’ve ever been too, it was just so magical! Good Luck!!!
How about one of the islands off the coast?
