What is a good holiday spot in or near North California in October with a toddler for a week long vacation ?
We were considering Lake Tahoe but it starts to get cold in October. Prefer someplace not too cold so toddler can be outside longer. His health doesnt permit him to play around in the snow or be outside when its cold / windy.

You might want to think about the Monterey Peninsula.
I am sure the adults and toddler would love the Monterey Aquarium.
The weather might be cool, but certainly not cold unless you go out into the Ocean.

Embarcadero is wicked nice, and it’s not THAT far, so you could really just walk down it to the Ferry Building. On Saturdays they do a nice farmer’s market and you can get lots of good stuff. Walk down to Pier 39.

If you brought him to San Francisco (often called "Northern California" though really central California) I could (and would be happy to) take care of him as that is my business and profession.
But I have to seriously question "His health doesnt permit him to play around in the snow or be outside when its cold / windy." Would you keep him inside from October to April in Minnesota? North Dakoka? Alaska?
Dress him for the weather and send him out!!! I say so. The American Academy of Pediatrics says so. The National Association for Education of Young Children says so. And probably your state’s departments of education and social services say so. Bundle him up and take him out!
