I would love to try redwood plank for cooking food on in the oven?
I know that I can use oak or cedar, so I wonder if redwood will give off any taste or smell. I am of course planning to season the plank before using it. I am mostly concerned so it does not effect the edibility of the food.
Thanks.

Use cherry.
In all of the years that I have used wood to smoke and barbecue redwood was not on the list. It is not known for being a fragent wood and I’m really sure. I know that pine is an absolute no no because of the sap. It ruins meat. I would use hickory, cherry, or oak if it is meat(beef or pork) and something lighter if it is fish(alderwood).
