In need of an affordable wedding reception! Please help!?
Me and my fiance are going ot get married at his church in Redwood City. We are looking for a small affordable, but nice looking reception hall for the after party. We will have at most 40 people at the party. This is my firsttime looking into this kind of stuff, so if someone has prior experiance then I would love some helpfull advice.

I’m not exactly where Redwood City is located.
Try here. There are links that will help you locate the kinds of places you’re wanting.
Good Luck!

a local fire hall or "club" usually has very good rates. And if you know someone who is a member at one of the clubs, they usually can get better rates. I had mine at a VFW, and with nice decorations you can have a respectful reception (I made all of my own). My whole wedding cost me approx $2000 including food, DJ, hall, dress…..and that was for 200 people.

If you are talking about Redwood City, CA – try looking for a magazine called Wedding Sites and Services Northern CA. It was great – had tons of places on the peninsula…I mean everywhere from Napa to San Jose. There are some cool restaurants with banquet rooms – I would just go into places near the church or wherever you want the reception to be and ask about pricing. Good luck!
Check with restaurants that have private rooms. We found one that seated about 100 and had room for a dance floor, DJ, cake table, etc. What was really cool is that we didn’t have to pay for the room, just the food. We got enough food for 100 people and it was good to go. Call around, don’t mention that you are getting married at first because you sometimes get better rates for ‘family get-togethers.’ I’m not saying to lie, just withhold the info about the wedding until asked and see if you get a better deal.
