I have been wanting to attend a Native American sweat lodge ceremony.?
I have Cherokee and other Native American ancestry, although I am African American. I would like to find the location of a sweat lodge in Northern California.

Ask your tribal elders where to find one…

In Weed California during the spring summer and autumn this ceremony is held on most Saturdays in Stewart Mineral Springs. It is best to call the office in advance. I am not sure how the "link" thing works, but the name of the website appears to be "Spirit of the Wind". A man by the name of Walking Eagle performs the ceremony.
Good luck!

Sweat lodge is not something one just shows up to uninvited. Since many lodges are located on privately owned land you’d have to be invited by the person who runs the lodge or by a person who already attends. Despite your claim of American Indian ancestry, you may not be accepted as many who run lodge will only sweat with ndns. However there are others who will accept you in. Do not be offended if you are not allowed in, the leader is only protecting the sanctity of his lodge. Some charge $$ for lodge. If you want to pay, go ahead, the persons who takes your money will laugh all the way to the bank.
There is a lot of controversy over non-natives and sweatlodge both as participants and (laughably) as leaders. Good luck. I hope you find what you’re looking for but know that your exploration treads on the rights and traditions of others…

I have a very strange question. How does one get themselves kicked out of a sweat lodge? I had an interesting exchange with someone who experienced this, but did not elaborate on the why.

I am part Cherokee (my Grandfather ).
I will be in NC mountains this weekend. Would my spouse and be allowed in a sweat lodge?
Thank you.

Sorry to bother did you find one??
Try these sites, contact them and perhaps they can assist you:

http://www.cherokee-nc.com/

Also, keep in mind, that traditional Native American Sweat Lodges are not generally open to the public. If you know what clan you are affiliated with, perhaps you can contact them to see if they will allow you to participate in the ritual.
