What is a good california vacation?
I am graduating and my parents are going to send me and a few friends on a weekend vacation. What’s a good spot? (San Diego is a no and it has to be less than three hours away from LA.)

Depends on what time of year…
If it’s soon, like in winter time, then I’d suggest Big Bear for the downhill skiing and snowplay. If it’s during warmer weather, I’d suggest something along the coast, like the Santa Barbara area, or Pismo-Morro Bay-Cayucos area.
Good luck, and congratulations!

If you’re flying, you could be in San Francisco in about an hour.

Pismo’s a great idea.
San Diego would have been good, too.
Palm Springs is nice in the spring, if you want to hang out around the pool and get sun. Too hot in summer, though.
What about Disneyland?

Santa Barbara or Palm Springs.
Prepare to be disappointed with the beaches. The beaches suck. The water is too cold for swimming without a wet suit. And, when you do, look out for the great white. The economy is really bad and taxes are horrible. Resorts are getting old in ratty in lots of cases. Californians are really small minded. They criticize the rest of the world when they have never stepped foot out of their state nor plan to. Girls sound like idiots when the "like" speak. For a weekend in California, I would do like many Californians do, go to Las Vegas. Additionally, L.A. isn’t like NYC. It is a conglomeration of cities in one without a real center like ‘Times Square’ etc. A car is needed to get around. Geographically, it is beautiful and worth seeing the sites. I sort of enjoyed Santa Barbara when I lived in the state. Also, San Diego is cool. It is like a eastern city with tall buildings and witout the mindless liberalism that is rampant in the state.
