Are there any other cats out there that like to bring home sticks?
My cat likes to go out in the yard and bring back redwood twigs … just wondering if this is unique or common behavior.

No my cat brings home just about anyting she can put into her mouth. She has brought home leaves, twigs, sonmeone’s hackysack, and two cherries from my neighbours tree. I don;t think she relizes that she is actually supposed to bring home dead animals. Cats will bring presents home to show that you are the leader of the pack and their gratitude for caring for them. What they think are presents, us human don’t. So just accept the twigs and thank your kitty with a treat.

my cats are indoor cats, but they still bring me "gifts". they grab the cat toys from the basket and I find them all over the house: in the bathroom, on the bed, in the computer room. It’s a natural instinct, their way of "giving" you something. Like the mother cat bringing back a "kill" for her litter. (Though why yours brings back sticks, I’m not sure….but better than dead mice or birds!
Take it as a compliment.

Those are gifts from them to you. I know it sounds crazy, but, it’s true. I had a cat once that would bring me dead birds, mice and even a rabbits foot. He would lay it on the door mat and sit and look up at me and meow. That’s their way of showing you they love you!

Yes, they are bringing you back a gift. They also like the smell of anything natural from outside, wood, grass, leaves, etc.

My cat brings me twigs and leaves. If your cat is a fixed female, shes bringing you sticks as food. Her maternal instincts have taken over and she views you as her kitten. She feels you are unable to fend or feed yourself, therefor she is bringing you the protien she feels you need.

I’m glad I’m not the only one with a crazy kitty! We have three males, and one female. One of our twin boys likes to bring home live presents and watch me “play” with it, the other brings home sticks, small toys, empty cigarette packs, basically anything. Both sing their celebratory song when entering the house with catch in mouth, and both purr as I place it back outside. They are both fixed. Our other boy never got fixed, he does not bring anything home. The girl is I guess too young? Lol

I have a male 8 month kitty that will bring me all different kinds of leaves. Most of the time they are wet lol. I find little piles hidden and sometimes few twigs. I think it’s cute and funny and hope he never changes. His sister is a mummy’s girl and hates the outdoors. I guess that will change once she gets abit older. X

My two 9week old boys will run out on our deck and curry back leaves and sticks then hide them behind our couch in a nice pile, they will run back and forth over and over running so fast they skid to a stop and empty our deck of leaves very fast. they also do the same thing upstairs running from veranda to bathroom making another pile of leaves. no matter how annoying it is to clean its the cutest and funniest thing to watch and they are so proud of themselves 🙂

I had a big cuddly tabby named ‘Marcus’ and he literally used to bring us large tree branches. I’m talking 1/2 inch diameter and up to four feet long. It was absolutely hysterical…Boy do I miss ‘Marcus’…
My cat likes to bring in cricket’s and grasshoppers. At least your presents don’t scamper under the fridge.
