So we want to go visit the redwoods in NorCal. I think it’s called Humboldt. Where can we stay?
We’re not sure if we’ll be camping or get a hotel. Where can we camp? What cities should we look at for a hotel room?

No need to go all the way to Humboldt County (234 miles from the Golden Gate.)
Just across the Golden Gate Bridge is Muir Woods National Monument, an ancient Redwood forest. In Sonoma County (50 miles or so) is Armstrong Grove on the Russian River, another ancient (first growth) forest. Eat in Occidental, the town of restaurants. (Family style Italian, very old and famous.
Further North on US 101 are other parks with big trees in Mendocino County and all the way north in Del Norte County.
If you do go all the way to Humboldt, stay at Patrick’s Point State Park and be sure to visit the Scotia Dining Room near Arcata.
Have fun.

I don’t know that what people think matrets, but as property owners we are subject to many things, good and bad. Foundations are extremely costly. I believe those residents are long time Marinwood folks. I would hope if they paid to have a lawyer represent them and paid for the removal of those beautiful trees, they did not do it in haste. The down-side to being a homeowner is that we have to learn to tolerate certain things of others even when we don’t agree with them. How about having a neighbor who tried to poison your cats because they dislike cats? Good, Bad and add Evil to the mix, that is the price of homeownership!!
If you want to do the hotel thing, this is our favorite place in Humboldt Co.:
