Test inning
Dean JOnes in Madras, absolutely outstanding made a double century, was in all sorts of bother health wise. Throwing up, urinating uncontrollably etc and still managed to fight it out, absolutely sensational, shows the character of what aussies sportsmen are all about.
I do agree with the Gibbs in the one dayer, when he is on song, it is sensational to watch the timeing…..Gibbs seems to just effortlessly hit the ball for four through the gaps.

While my favourite test innings is the same as yours,i.e.V.S.S.Laxman’s innings against Australia my favour one day innings is of Kapil Dev’s 175 runs against Zimbawe in the cricket world cup 1983, which helped India not only to beat Zimbawe from the position of defeat and also paved way for India winning the world cup.

Test- Brian Lara’s 153 against australia in 98/99. was an awesome display of courage and determination when the windies were down and out. if i’m not mistaken the windies went on to win with 1 wicket to spare.
ODI – Mahendra dhoni’s 183* against srilanka. india had lost some quick wickets and the sri lankans really had their tales up and were threatening to win the match. but his fantastic batting took it all away.

I did like VVS Laxmans innings of 281 against Australia – won India the series when Australia had started well and looked like wrapping it up until then, however the best innings I watched was Gilchrists 149 not out against Pakistan in Hobart in 1999/2000 – Gilly in full flight is great.
The innings I would have liked to have watched would have been Bradmans 334 at Headingly in 1930. One hundred runs per session – 383 minutes at the crease, all scored in a day. Would have been good to be there.

sanath jayasuriya’s 340* against india
shahid afridi’s centuries against india
Test – I’d go for Lara’s 153 * against Australia in 98/99 to win the match by 1 wicket and hence claim the series! with WI down and out some how he pulled together and build a partnership with Ambrose and then Walsh of all people …. everyone was on the boundary …. but somehow …. he would still find the gap … Genius!
One Day – I’d go for Tendulkars 134 In the final in Sharjah which won the match … followed by his 143 in the previous match in which he single handedly got India to final some how he carried on in the final and got a spectcular 134 … ripping every thing the Aussies threw at them and eventually making them claim including Warne that they were "having nightmares " about Sachin smacking them! A typical example I thought was when S. Waugh bowled him a just short of good length ball which Sachin smacked for a flat six on top of waugh’s head … HOW?… Genius!
