What are some awesome places to vacation at in California?
Bagua Grande We live in Colorado and will be driving there. So somewhere not too far.. Give me ideas on what to do and see, and where to stay. Also, someone tell me about "beach camping" … please! Can you actually camp out on the beach or what? Sorry, never really been outta Colorado. Thanks 😀

Spend a couple of days at a hotel&casino in Lake Tahoe. Explore the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains and go to Virginia City NV for a day. You can actually go down in a silver mine there. Then head for the coast. Everthing from Malibu north is beautiful along Hwy 1. Yosemite is breathtaking. Spend at least one day their. Take a tour of the Gold Country (Mother Load) where I was raised. See the old mines and some of the old buildings which still have businesses in them. There is so much to do I could be on here the rest of my life. Have a great vacation and make some wonderful memories in sunny, golden California!

National Park-Yosemite is a good place to go in California. An other place is San Francisco and the Monterrey Aquarium

Beach camping is very hard to get on the weekends. If you’re here on the weekdays than you’ll have a better chance.
Alot of my favorite beach spots are near Santa Barbara. There’s Jalama Beach (first come first serve, mostly locals go there since it’s hard to get a spot), Gaviota, San Refugio are some good ones.
The Crystal Cove one isn’t at the beach, but a 2 mile hike away, but is near a nice beach. There’s also San Onofre, you’re not camping on the sand, but it’s really close to a surfing beach.
I recetnly reserved a camp spot for next month on Catalina’s Perris Landing. Lots of good reviews, but a 7 mile like to get to the spot.
There are places that you can camp out at the local beaches. I’d check various local Chamber of Commerce for the cities (like Santa Barbara, Venice, Santa Monica, etc.) to find out about permits or where designated camping locales are.
Other places to check out along your drive from CO is Tahoe, since you’ll be crossing that border. Maybe head a little further south to Mojave or Joshua Tree? You’ll also hit up the San Bernardino Mountains and can head up to Big Bear Mountain. You may be tired of them from Colorado, but they have amazing views and Lake Arrowhead is a great place to camp and visit. Check out San Diego and obviously all the L.A./Hollywood hot spots. Orange County has a lot of amazing beaches and beautiful parks, not to mention Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland.
