Volunteer opportunities in the Western US?

I’m trying to plan a small student trip (up to 11 people) for approximately 10 days this coming March. These would be college students, all 18 or over. We travel in a big white van, and the volunteer location can’t be more than 18 hours or so drive from Colorado Springs.
If there are locations that provide lodging or food, etc. or help finding it, that would be much preferred but not necessary.
Any kind of work is good – I was hoping for outdoor work and/or with redwoods. But I’m open to all suggestions, especially if you’ve been there personally.

The only thing that I know of that might help you is this website: http://www.volunteermatch.org. I believe there is an option for group volunteering. It also lets you put in zip codes of the areas you want. Some of the opportunities are long term, but there are also a lot of short term or one time opportunities as well.
