I am planing a California Vacation. I need help choosing what beach to go see? Newport or Huntington?
Caicó We’ve never been to California. I’m thinking about staying at a hotel near Disneyland. Possible the Hyatt Regency Orange County. The closest beaches are Newport and Huntington. Which is better for new timer vacationers who’ve never seen the ocean. We just want to see it walk around take pictures and enjoy the experience. Also are there any good hotels in the area?
Newport or Huntington?

They are both good beaches. Newport tends to be less crowded.

There are many hotels near and even on each beach.
Newport beach is a little more upscale (mostly) and Huntington Beach is called Surf City USA for a reason.
HB is a very long beach with state parks, more accessible and easier to get good pictures. NB is a little more crowded.
Hyatt Regency Orange County is near Disneyland, and 30 minutes from the beach.
If you are staying there you will need a car to get to the beach.

Both of them have nice beaches. Newport Beach is much more upscale than Huntington Beach.
Unless you get lucky, you’ll have to pay to park at either a parking meter or public lot.
There aren’t any hotels on the beach in either location.
In Newport Beach I like the beaches on the peninsula. There are cute shops, bars, restaurants and a pier you can walk out on. It’s a more unique area than Main Street Huntington Beach. HB tore down most of their cute downtown and put up common stucco buildings in their place. Crystal Cove State Beach is beautiful, romantic and has great tide-pools. The Beachcomber restaurant sits on the sand in Crystal Cove and is a popular spot for watching the sunset. My out of town guests love that beach. If you’re looking to get away from crowds of people go to Crystal Cove during the week. Use the Pelican Point entrance.
In Huntington Beach most tourists like Huntington City Beach. That is where the pier is and Main Street which contains bars, shopping and restaurants. Duke’s is a good place to eat. It’s right on the beach, although if you want something cheaper there is Ruby’s at the end of the pier.
They are both right next to each other. Both are pretty similar but if I had to go to only one, I’d say Huntington, but only because of their pier. It’s a little longer and has a Ruby’s at the end. Seriously though, if you’ll be here for awhile you can easily go to both. I go to both often and it’s really not much of a difference to get there.
There are so many awesome beaches here. Redondo beach is really nice and it has King’s Harbor which is awesome. Santa Monica too, with the world famous pier. If you have the time take the 5 down to San Diego. Nice drive along the Pacific and San Diego’s an awesome city. There’s a nice town along the way called San Clemente that has the coolest little beach and pier too. Definitely worth stopping by.
I’m not sure about hotels but they’re everywhere here. I’d look them up online and read reviews.
