How to get babysitting or pet sitting clients?
Kampong Thom I am 15 and a half years old turning 16 in July and hopefully will get my license in August. I have never babysat before but I do have some experience with kids from volunteering as a crew leader at Vacation Bible School at the local church for the past three summer and I plan to continue to volunteer there for the next couple years of high school, I am a sophomore. As I said I have never babysat before I was offered a job by one of my dad’s coworkers but was unable to as she needed me on the third day of school at the beginning while her kids were still on summer vacation. I live in Northern California in Alameda County and was wondering what is a good way to get babysitting clients when i have no recommendations to go off of? I am willing to do fliers but feel that no one will hire me based on a flier and there are not any little kids who need to be babysat in my neighborhood.
I have pet sat for many of my neighbors and also would be interested in this. I have a cat though so pets cannot come to my house I would have to come to them.

I think flyers or an ad in your newspaper would be a great start. And you do have references — the church you work for during VBS! Make sure to list you have not baby-sat before, but do have experiences with children. Don’t list the experience in the ad or on the flyer, but when the parent calls/emails for more information then feel free to elaborate then. Also, if you’ve ever helped out your mother with babysitting a cousin or such that could be counted. I would list it as a "mothers helper". That means you have helped watch a child while being supervised by an adult.
