How far is the Redwood Forest from San Fran?

Muir Woods, in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), is a redwood forest that’s only 10 miles from Downtown San Francisco.
Although this grove is smaller than the ones at Redwoods and Sequoia National Parks, the trees are no less spectacular. And tourists usually go to Muir Woods because it’s an easy daytrip from San Francisco.

Redwood Forest is really far from San Francisco.
If you want to see redwood trees I suggest the best place is Big Basin.
It’s around the Santa Cruz area and is easy to get to. There’s campgrounds there too

From San Francisco to Redwood is 6 hours 21 minutes (got info from http://www.mapquest.com/directions)
Other choice is Sequoia National Park which is 4 hours 14 minutes from San Fransico to Seqouia

Only way you can visit one of those national park is to spend one night so you guys don’t have to drive back and forth same day … Just giving you ideas …
You can try and visit Yosemite National Park which is 3 hours 44 minutes … http://www.nps.gov/yose/
