California vacation tips- Disneyland with 4 mo old?
Marawi City My parents are taking my husband, my baby(who will be just shy of four months), and me to Disneyland and some other CA attractions. I need tips on going with an extremely low budget(they are paying for it, but aren’t very well off, just determined to go!), and making life a little easier being there with a baby. We will be stopping in Las Vegas on the way and probably spending the night. It is about 19 hours in a car both directions. The biggest help I need is with bringing food to prevent eating out. However, any tips would be WONDERFUL!
The family joke is that Disneyland is our "Mecca", we have to go as often as we can. The reason my dad is so determined to go is because he wants to go with the whole family(my brother(16) and sister(15) are going as well) around the time each grandchild is born. We don’t do many family vacations besides camping, but Disneyland is a constant! So I’m not too worried about my baby not remembering this trip because we have always gone at least once every five years or so(once when my brother was only one month old!).
I’m also BFing. And it’s not like we are doing a daytrip to Disneyland. This is going to be like, a ten day vacation involving Disneyland, the beach, Las Vegas, Palm Springs, and I don’t know what else yet.

Ok, here are some things I would bring:
DVD player and dvds
CD player and cds
ear plugs – so you can sleep
PILLOW –
Books and a book light (no light inside of vehicle while driving will be available to you unless you bring it) it clips onto your book while you read and doesn’t hurt the drivers vision
As far as food, I would make a good breakfast(meal appropriate to time leaving) before you leave the house. Have an Ice Chest filled with juices/water and ICE!
Pack some Fruit in baggies, chips, granola bars.
First stop for food can be 3-4 hours into the trip and I would make that your "fast food stop". One not so healthy meal along the way isn’t going to hurt them =)
Second stop for food can be another 4 hours or so and I would make it a grocery store. Head to the Deli Dept. and have them make up some sandwiches and salads, another bag of Ice and some more juices if needed.
I think it’s a great thing that families are still taking vacations together. That is really cool and says something about your family! Enjoy it and take plenty of pictures. Even though your little one won’t remember the trip you will have pics to show them later. Also, you are setting a precedent for your family of beginning vacations together at a very early age for the baby.

DO you "really" need to take the baby? He/she will remember none of it, doubtfully enjoy any of it.. despise any mention of it when they grow up.
My parents took me a lot of places when I was little and have pictures to show for it… even up into Canada. I remember none of it because I was too small. However once I was old enough to actually enjoy it AND remember it, we went nowhere. They sold the camping trailer, we went to ONE movie together (E.T.) and that was it… yet I get to listen to how they took me here and there…. and how I was sooooo bored in the car and going places they wanted to go.
You might want to consider a baby sitter.. or just not mentioning it (throwing in the face of the child) when they are older that you did them a favor… because you actually are not.
