Best beaches in california?

Okay so i have a week between school gets out and summer school and that is the only week i have where i can go on a mini vacation. I live in northern cali and i want to go to southern cali I want to
-learn how to surf
-buy art and clothes
-go to some decent resturaunts
-possibly get a piercing

what part of southern cali would you reccomend. I just really want a place near a beach with easy calm waves to surf. Also a place with alot of cheap thrifty stores and local artists.

By the way im 14

Definitely Santa Monica, there are alot of cute shops in there and there’s great resturaunts too. It smells really good. And theres an artist who can sketch a portrait of you too.

– SANTA MONICA:
Santa Monica State Beach is one of the widest and most popular beaches in the Los Angeles area with everything from an amusement park on the pier to volleyball. The bike path goes for miles directly underneath the Santa Monica Pier north and south. This beach promises to keep the entire family entertained. On the pier, the Pacific Park amusement center offers a nine-story Ferris wheel that provides a bird’s-eye view of the city and coastline.
