If we can put these new 8 places on a protected list, why cant we put the rainforest on the same list?
Did anyone see the new Yahoo story today about the 8 places they added to the preservation list or whatever its called?
If they can add EIGHT places at one time, whats so difficult about adding the rainforest and the redwoods too, and more importantly why dont they?

the government of that country are unwilling to the right things.
Look at the criteria for whichever lists you’re talking about. The damage from rainforest destruction is chronic, not acute. Old growth redwoods are fairly well protected already. Redwoods themselves aren’t endangered. There isn’t just one rainforest. The best approach toward rainforest conservation is to find economic incentives more attractive than rainforest destruction.
