Suggestions of nice vacation spots in California?
I need a get-a-way, and am a bit undecided as where to go. Can someone share pleasant (or unpleasant) experiences with me of there vacation spots here in California? I am open to any suggestions.

Northern California is nice along the coast. San Francisco is a tourist trap. I hate it there. Monterey is beautiful but lacks things to do. Don’t go to the East Bay, it is dangerous.

There are plenty of great vacation spots in CA. Yosemite National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, San Simeon (tour Hearst Castle), Catalina Island, San Diego (Zoo, Old Town, Wildlife Animal Park), San Francisco (Chinatown, Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower, the crookedest St, Lombard St), Redwoods National Park, Sequoia National Park, Palm Springs (take the rotating tram), Monterey (Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman’s Wharf) and nearby Pebble Beach (do the beautiful 17 mile drive).
Santa Cruz is still nice provided you are aware of and avoid the "smart bum" who will try any kind of trick to make a buck. They’re usually dressed in a white shirt and black trousers so easy to spot.
