What are the most recent advances and discoveries in the goal of scientific biological IMMORTALITY in humans?
Retrovirii? Gene therapy? Why can’t man be virtually immortal like redwoods?
‘Virtually’, doctor J-
‘virtually’. I hate to question a doctor, but they are ‘virtually’ immortal- especially when compared to human beings.

I had heard that "telomeres" (end caps on our chromosomes) get shorter as we age. So, if you recall the clone sheep "Dolly", they found her telomeres were still quite short, and so she experienced medical problems usually only found in older sheep.
As for technologies, look for yourself, shouldn’t be too hard.

Redwoods are NOT immortal.

And we are virtually immortal, when compared to bacteria, so be happy with that.

Look up the biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey and his field of "Engineered Negligible Senescence."
Be aware, however, that many of his colleagues consider him a bit of a kook…
