Is it best to cut the suckers at the base of a redwood tree or to let them grow?
Just want to know what is best for the tree.
Thank you for answering.

Allowing the suckers to grow diverts some of the nutrients and water from the mature tree. Removing them may allow the tree to grow a little faster. The second consideration is the appearance of the tree with suckers growing up around it. Most people want a single specimen tree rather than a bushy cluster of small trees growing around the mature tree. So if you want a more "natural" look, you could leave the suckers.
