My boyfriend and I are going to do a week vacation. California, Grand Canyon and then Vegas.?
What’s a good way to organize a trip like that…Rent a car? prebook with travel agent. Plan our own trip? how long to stay in each place. What are some things we should see…we love music, dining out and shopping

Book with an agent if you can afford it. Some car companies like Alamo offer unlimited milage in a three state area.
I really enjoyed Cirque de Soleil in Las Vegas. Also, go downtown to see the techno Fremont Street Experience (a freebie!).
If you come to San Diego there is the zoo, Sea World, Coronado Island. Nice downtown.

Firstable, one week is kind of less than sufficient time to visit California, Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas.
If I were you, I would take a flight to Los Angeles and spend 1 day visiting Hollywood and Beverly Hills. 1 day playing in Disneyland. 1 day seeing Shamu in SeaWorld San Diego. Then, join a local bus tour to see Las Vegas and Grand Canyon, which lasts three days.
In Southern California, you should rent a car since public transportation is not so convenient. I hope this will help you plan the trip. Have fun.

That’s a lot to bite off for 1 week. I’ve been there many times. Pre book with a travel agent for hotels schedules etc. I recommend you fly to Los Angeles and stay there for 3 days only and take tours. One can take you to Universal Studios via Rodeo Drive and One can be a city tour stars homes etc gives you a good grounding as what to do on your next trip. Don’t rent a car there and Fly to Las Vegas & rent a car there maybe, cabs are easy to get and there are buses on the Strip and you can walk from hotel to hotel. Might note it’s a long drive to the Grand Canyon and better to plan on taking a helicopter trip there, you can book this at your hotel. Recommend you see the Hoover Dam, I consider that one a must and you can take a tour takes you to Lake Mead and then a small boat to the head of the Dam and a bus will pick you up there to bring you back to Las Vegas and you will have seen a fair bit of the dessert doing that. Everything you can imagine to do in Vegas itself even if you only visit the other hotels. I recommend room service at least once, it’s great. I always do that on arrival. Must see at least 2 shows and the hotel can arrange that for you or you can book them yourself. I think the hotel always gets you better seats. All the music you want to hear, all the food your heart desires and shop till you drop.
Have a great time.
If you just have a week…I would recommend flying into Flagstaff, Arizona and renting a car to drive to the Grand Canyon. I would cut out California unless you want to book another flight to L.A. or San Diego….as they are still fairly far away. There is so much to see and do in California that it warrants its own separate trip and this way you aren’t trying to pack so much in.
The reason I recommend driving to the Grand Canyon is that the area is really beautiful as seen by a car and it is very close. After you have soaked in the natural beauty and are properly in awe. Either drive back to Flagstaff and take a short flight to Vegas. Or drive the several hours to Vegas(I would recommend this). Then live it up…see some shows, dine out and test your luck at the tables.
Hope this helps! Have a great trip. It sounds like a good melding of nature and urban fun!
