No. I honestly think you would do well to spend that money on the UC. At a UC school, you will have the opportunity to work with distinguished faculty. after all, the UC is a system of research universities. You will come out with a more prestigious degree and better experience under your belt. And you will be able to take classes that I bet Humboldt wouldn’t offer. Those factors would make you a great candidate for grad school (assuming you do well in your coursework).
Then when you are shopping for grad school programs, you can aim for a PhD; PhD programs are often free of charge to students, in fact they PAY YOU a stipend to teach, research and study. Therefore money won’t be as much of an issue.
Of the CSUs, Humboldt’s not even considered to be one of the better ones. If you absolutely MUST go with a CSU school, go for one of the Cal Poly campuses (great for sciences), or one of the big campuses like SFSU, SDSU or Northridge, Long Beach or Fullerton.
