I’m assuming from your question that you are flying into San Jose airport. Wow, you have made some itinerary for yourself in 4 short days. This will be a "whirl-wind" trip for sure !
From the airport take Route 280 N toward Redwood City, about 50
miles toward the coast. From Redwood City head N on Route 680
now going inland to Napa / Sonoma about 90 miles. Hearst Castle is on the coast in a town called San Simeon. from Napa / Sinoma take Route 101 S to Coastal Route 1 which will take you right into
San Simeon about 200 miles. From San Simeon take Route 1 S about 15 miles and just outside of Cambra take Route 46 until you merge into Route 41 ( you will find yourself on 2 lane windy roads so it won’t be a fast ride) . Follow Route 41 into Fresno, get Route 41 out of Fresno and follow to Yosemite Park. Remember, you will be getting into more mountainous windy and steep roads after you leave Fresno and you don’t travel as quickly so we say add double the miles for mountainous roads.
Your miles from San Simeon to Yosemite will be close to 350 or more miles so prepare yourself for a long road trip. It is very scenic, however. Give yourself enough time to get your plane in San Jose when you leave Yosemite. You will not take the same route out that you came in on .Take Route 120 out of the park and follow the signs directing you to San Francisco. Please get maps of California before you leave home (AAA) you will need a map to visualize the distances you are going to try to make in a short time. I hope this helps…and have a safe and wonderful trip!
You can put those all into a map website, like http://maps.google.com and it will tell you directions, distance, and approximate travel time.
And I don’t think you want to go to Redwood City; it’s not what you think it is – it’s just a suburban peninsula town. They have a couple good restaurants, but based on your other travel plans it sounds like you are looking for redwood trees.
If you want to go somewhere very close to San Jose, go to this website and scroll down to "Impressive Redwoods" http://www.bahiker.com/extras/best.html
Yet more impressive are Redwood National Park and Sequoia National Park, which are nowhere near Redwood City.
For an itinerary, with only 4 days I would suggest picking only one of those places. You can easily combine Napa and Sonoma, but Yosemite cannot be done in just one day.
