What are the pros/cons of living in humboldt county, CA?
My husband and I are thinking of going to Humboldt University for grad school, besides the awful state of California’s economy, what are the pros/cons? What’s it like there?

I saw a movie called Humboldt County. You should watch it.

some of the best mary jane in the world
Pros:
Absolutely beautiful, redwood trees, ocean, fresh air!
Campus is stunning as well, small class sizes, you will know your professor and your professor will know you by the end of the semester, its not uncommon to join your professor for lunch! They feature exceptional science programs!! Campus police is friendly and willing to walk with you to your car if you have late classes!
Mad River Hospital is close by!
Mad River Campsite/ Rec allows bonfires, beautiful camp outs on the beach
Cons:
One shopping mall in Eureka, and I’m being generous by calling it a mall (there is a dollar store in the mall)! Closest Macy’s is Reding or Santa Rosa!
Lots of pot, and I do mean lots!
You aren’t going to see the latest movies there, one movie theater and they play mostly oldies!
The campus has tons and tons of stairs and little to no elevators ( just don’t break your leg or you will be have serious trouble getting to class)
Windy roads, with dense fog! Cold for my taste!
Hard to find off campus housing or apartments
Poor economy very difficult to find a job there and that was back in 2000!!
This info is not up to date! I attended Humboldt State back in 2000 and haven’t returned since.
