You need to go to North California to see Redwoods.
But go to Capilano River Regional Park or Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver to see the cedar forest.

the Western Red Cedar is a similar tree to the California Redwood. Red Cedars abound around Vancouver and throughout coastal British Columbia.

There are no native redwoods in Vancouver but you can find a few that have been planted here. The rose garden in Stanley Park has a few in the parking lot area. I’ve also seen a couple in White Rock. They don’t look very impressive, the Stanley Park ones are maybe 60 years old and about 75 feet tall, and they will never get as big as the northern California trees because we don’t have the right conditions, but at least you can see one up close and put your hands on it without driving 1500 miles.
No redwoods but lots of large cedars and firs in Capilano Canyon, Lighthouse Park in West Van, and to a lesser extent, Lynn Canyon. All easy to access even on transit. Near those places on the North Shore you can see large trees in people’s front backyards for that matter.
