What were weird customs people did in chicago or humboldt park in the 1800s?

ok so am doing a project and I need 2 find out what weird or unusual thngs people did in the 1800s in humboldt par or atleast in chicago please!! if its gang related it would be even better!! HELP!!!!

At 2140 W Grand was a public bathouse for use by everyome. Many apartments lacked indoor plumbing.

Besides killing people who interfered with their liquor production? Even pre-prohibition this was huge.
