Draw the triangle and label the height of the tree x.
x/80 = tan(75)
x = 80 * tan(75) ≅ 298.56
So, to the nearest foot, the tree is 299 feet tall, assuming the hiker’s eyes are level with the ground.
Otherwise it is 299 + the height of the eyes above the ground.
