Where do you think a great vacation place is in your own country?
I’m in the USA, so I spent time in California, Arizona, Utah and Nevada. I can’t believe that the Grand Canyon is not listed as a wonder of the world, it is. So is the redwood forest in N. Calif.
I had a great vacation — you’ve got to see the Grand Canyon. You can be freezing on the desert, but by the time you climb to the top of the Canyon (in a car for this old man) it is roasting. A fascinating place to spend time.
If you ever get the chance, take it. If not, make the opportunity. It is a memory that stays with you. I have been there 5 or 6 times throughout my life, and each time still leaves me standing in awe.
If I was a poet, I’d tell you about the sunset colors of the cliffs
and the how the Colorado River looks like a tiny creek when you
look down; the glass dome made me nervous, but only way to
really see straight down; like being in the front seat of a chopper
where nothing blocks your view.

I’m from the US also. Each state is unique and has fantastic things to do and see. However, I agree with you. The Grand Canyon is just as the name describes GRAND! I’ve been there several times and each time it amazes me. I suggest that you take a rafting trip down the Colorado and then climb out – it gives you yet another perspective of the canyon, LOOKING UP at all of the colors and seeing in in morning, afternoon, and evening – and realizing that it is ever changing.

I returned about a week and a half ago from a visit to Carlsbad Caverns and the Grand Canyon. In fact I have an open question on the subject. I invite your visit and comments.
I do believe this is one of the most spectacular natural land features I have ever seen, and I have visited volcanoes, lava flows, beaches and other attractions on several different continents.
The Grand Canyon is spectacular. I particularly like Yosemite and Yellowstone. Since I’ve been living in Italy for the past 12 years, I would recommend Cinque Terre – for the marvelous scnery, hiking opportunities and the food in the area.
