I am building a wood structure pergola?
I am planning to put 4 posts in the ground with concrete around it. So what is the best species of wood to use without decaying or dry-rotting. Some say redwood and cedar. What are others opinion Thanks

Both work well. Both have natural acids that lessen insect damage. Coat the posts with a sealer from tip that goes in ground up to around 6" above the ground.
Those are excellent choices and you could also use treated lumber but don’t put the cut end in the ground since it won’t be treated on the end. Put some gravel in the bottom of the hole for drainage before pouring the concrete.
