How to bonsai a Redwood?
How do I bonsai a Dawn Redwood or any other redwood tree? I have a seedling about a few months old and was wondering when to start to bonsai it. Any advice on any bonsai Redwoods would also be loved.

Redwoods tend to be huge trees. Miniaturizing them would be an awesome task. They would need to be deprived of the essentials of life right from the time they are seedlings.

I’m curious, Watching you reudce the root-ball looked very indiscriminate. I understand that root pruning should focus on removing the larger tap root and larger branch roots, while trying to preserve the young feeder roots. You in essence cut 2/3rds of the root ball with no real discretion. How is this tree? Did it survive?
Coastal Redwoods are ideal bonsai subjects. Fast growers, well fertilized will yield plenty to work with. Keep your trees healthy and you will be rewarded. Redwoods are ideal in that you can work on them quite a bit and they will bounce back quickly. Stay on top of growth and keep it in check. Pinch new growth as it emerges and wire branches early before they harden and set. They enjoy full sun and plenty of humidity.
I picked up this Coastal Redwood earlier this year:
