Do you know of a company that would remove 5 redwood trees from my property in liue of payment? Thanks. MsDunn?
The trees are over 100 feet tall and appear to be in good condiction. I was informed by a logging company that the profit a tree removal company is bound to make it well exceeds the removal fee.

Tree huggers all over the planet are going "…shame, shame, shame". Are you certain they have to be removed? Perhaps just one or two? Did you know that you will probably have to have a permit to remove these trees? Everyone has their own agenda and I mean no disrespect but…

I own a tree service and have never and will never accept the tree as payment. The guys and girls that work for me don’t get paid in wood. The value of the logs has a lot to do with how the inside of the tree is (rotten wood, size of "heart" etc..) therfor the value can not be determined untill cut down (can be estimated while standing). I would look into finding someone with a portable saw mill, see if they are interested. There is a great deal of expense getting equipment to load and transport the logs. The value of the logs would have to be great for anyone to turn a profit. If there were a great quantity of logs it could be worth you looking into hiring a logging truck to ship them to a mill to offset your expense for the tree company. Call a local tree company for a price on removal and when they are there get some idea of the value of the logs.
There are lots of companies that will remove trees in exchange for the lumber, the best places to find out about that is ask around at local hardware stores and other business to see if they know someone who would do it.
