Redwood City
Redwood City is a suburb located on the San Francisco Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Redwood City is the county seat of San Mateo County. It was originally part of the Rancho de las Pulgas. As of the 2006 census, the city had a total population of 79,000. The Port of Redwood City is the only deep water port on San Francisco Bay south of San Francisco.

What highway, or where are you coming from?
Redwood City, despite the name, does not involve driving through redwood trees. Same with Redwood Shores.
Could be lots of different places, depending on how far away from San Jose, you mean, and from which direction.
You see a lot of redwoods coming along highway 17 from Santa Cruz. You’d see them starting from just outside Santa Cruz, pretty much all the way, for about 20 miles, to Los Gatos.
As you are coming North, on 101, as you leave Salinas, you go throuht a wooded section, containing, among other species, redwoods, eucalyptus and oaks. This section goes on until you reach Gilroy.
The section of Interstate 280 goes through some beautiful wooded areas, not so much redwood, but more oaks and others.
Of course, if you come into San Jose, which lies in a large valley, through any of the back roads, you will have to pass through heavily wooded mountains. Surrounding the Santa Clara Valley, you’d see all kinds of trees, like redwoods, (on the coastal mountains) oaks and eucalyptus and some fruit trees all over the foothills.
Going much farther north, on 101, past San Francisco, past Santa Rosa and past the Napa Valley, you’d see lots of the GIANT reddwoods at Redwoods State Park, which, I think starts around Sonoma county and north of there.
Give us a clue as to where you were coming from and we can give you a more definitive answer.
