Would you be embarassed if your UFL football franchise's name/mascot was a choo-choo train or a tree?
Las Vegas Locomotives?
California Redwoods?
WTF, who is in charge of coming up with these lame names? First impression: FAIL

They are trying to be different from the NFL because they do not want to be competing with the NFL. So, they are using things that are historical or famous for the new team’s region.
The NFL has some "weak" mascots too: Browns, Redskins, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Packers, Texans, Saints, etc. Not all the teams have "strong" mascots like Lions and Bears. There are also some cheesy ones like Chargers and Giants and Oiliers (now the Titans).
What they’re called doesn’t really matter to me. It’s what product they’ll be putting on the field.

I agree, are they going to have a Super Bowl? It’s the Trains vs. the Trees!
Yeah it’s hard to take a league serious with names like the ones announced so far. The third is Florida Tuskers.
I haven’t followed the league that close, but I’m sure the individual team owners select the names, but with the league having a veto option.
Maybe the other owners will choose better names. I don’t think it really matters because the league won’t be around that long. Las Vegas Locomotives and California Redwoods will just become answers to sports trivia questions.
