Reputation is one thing – if you get good grades and stay pot-free, hopefully people won’t be as harsh seeing you rise above the influence. Good luck wherever you go.

My dream school (OU) is also known as a party school. I get laughed at all the time. Guess what. It’s ignorance. Any school can be a party school. It’s the people that party, not the schools. When you get there, you’ll be surrounded by people that WANT to be there, and then all these people’s opinions won’t matter. Don’t be bullied out of going to your dream school!

Is it truly your dream college? Or have you become sort of…fixated on it?
It’s true that Humboldt has a reputation of being a stoner school–and yes, that could hurt you with employers in the future. You can bemoan it all you want–say it’s ignorance, or it’s unfair, or you can rise above it–but that’s the way it is, unfortunately.
If you like the area…have you looked at College of the Redwoods?
The hard time will come if you do not want to smoke and your classmates constantly encourage you to do so.
Being caught with less than an ounce of the substance for personal use will be an infraction no more serious than a traffic violation in California effective January 1, 2011.
If you love the community there, you might fit in.
Most colleges, except religious ones, have a large number of students who smoke.
Personally, I would find my alma mater, Sonoma State, as well as Chico State to be academically and culturally preferable so long as my major is offered.
Studying an unusual major which is not offered at another CSU is the only really valid reason to go to Humboldt.
