Going to drive from Santa Barbara to SF and want to see BIG TREES.Any parks along the way?
Also Driving from SF to Lake Tahoe. Maybe some that way? Or is it better to go north of SF to Redwood National Forest?

The Redwood National Park is way north of SF, between Crescent city and Eureka on hwy 101. As you drive north on hwy 101 you eventually drive through some of the redwoods. They’re amazing. If you’re
Just south of SF is the farming area, but there’s a place you don’t want to miss south of SF… it’s called Casa de Fruta!
The difficulty with going to see the redwoods right now is the winter weather. Some roads could end up being closed due to snowfall. It doesn’t work well to try to fit the redwood national park in the same trip with Lake Tahoe, unless you have LOTS of time.
From SB thru SF to LT is about an 1100 mi round trip
From SB thru SF to Weed, CA then down 89 to LT and back is about 1400 mi.
From SB to Crescent City up into OR and back south to LT then back to SB is about 1800 mi.
The 1100 mi trip through to Weed, CA and then south to LT will take you through some gorgeous lake country with TALL trees. I doubt it takes you through any redwood parks or the National Forest, but at this time of year, this is the most doable trip of the three. The area around Shasta is as amazing as the redwood forest is, and the redwood forest trip is best done when you cannot get snowed in, or blocked by snow-closures.
