How can I help my fiance find his birth parents?
My fiance’ was born in 1974 in Redwood City California and he would like to find his birth parents. We have thier names and very little information about them. He was told his adoption record was record is sealed. Does anyone know what would be the best way to find them?

Just an idea…..
…My sister was trying to help her husband find his birth father. All they had was a name and that he was from California. Well, my sister decided to look on Myspace one day. They couldn’t believe it. They actually found his dad on Myspace. Now they communicate with each other regualarly.
I know it’s a little far fetched…but it is a chance.

That seems to be a popular registry to find each other

I’m not really sure his parents would be on myspace considering their ages since he was born in 74, but I would check out the registries that Heather B suggested because there is a chance if they are also looking they have already posted on a registry.
Register with these two registries:
http://www.isrr.net/
http://registry.adoption.com/
http://www.gsadoptionregistry.com/
Find a search group with people who know the ropes
Also Contact:
California Department of Social Services
Adoption Branch
744 P Street, MS 19-31
Sacramento, CA 95814
(916) 322-3778
Providing Information: The Department or licensed agency shall release any letters, photographs, or other items of personal property in its possession to an adopted adult age 18 or older, birth parents, or adoptive parents of an adoptee under 18 upon written request. Identifying information will be deleted.
Grow a thick skin ‘cos there’s loads of people out there who will attempt to put you off searching. Just be secure in the belief that it’s every humans’ birthright to know the truth of their origins and ignore other people’s insecurities about it.
ETA: There is a way in CA to find out his name at birth via public records. If you need help with this I can point you in that direction too, just PM me 😀
