Can you help me with some ideas for my vacation planning in southern california ?
We are going to venice beach the first day and hanging out. And Then going out to a few bars or clubs. But w also want to see more. I want to go somewhere inexpensive and beautiful. I was thinking about catalina island but that will end up costing a fortune. So if you have any ideas please help. Such as a boat tour or caverns something along those lines. Maybe even a waterfall. But we want to stick south of LA.

if you don’t know already, you’ll find that driving between San Diego and LA s*cks almost 24 hrs/day. there are two weeks left in the racing season. if you want to have a fun day take the train down to Solana Beach and you can catch a shuttle over to Del Mar racetrack.
you can also continue down to San Diego. some trains will stop in Old Town (Mex restaurants, etc) and all will end at the downtown Santa Fe station on Broadway which will put you close to Seaport Village (boat tours available) and about 1/2 mile from the Gaslamp District.
