Do redwood trees tolerate juglone from black walnut trees?
My husband has his heart set on planting a redwood tree on our property, but the spot where he wants to plant it is within the dripline of two black walnut trees. Does anyone know if redwoods are tolerant to the juglone produced by black walnuts?

My experience with redwoods is that they don’t care a smidgeon whether walnuts are nearby or not. I have five redwoods which have grown incredibly quickly in the direct shade of several walnuts. I just bought another to replace a cedar which would not grow close to a walnut and I expect the same wonderful result from that. Good judgement on the redwoods – they are magnificent and hardy trees.
I don’t believe so.
Black Walnut and Redwoods don’t grow together in natural forest. Black Walnuts produce juglone to prevent other plants from encroaching on them.
