like social life?the area?
anyone planning on going there?
and do i have a shot at getting in (my sucky GPA is 3.1 and my mediocre SAT score is 1500 as of now)

Your GPA and SAT should be fine for admission if you are a California resident. They put you near the middle of the entering class.
The area is very damp and foggy and is isolated from the rest of the state. It is very rainy in the winter.
Many students smoke a substance other than tobacco.
