Are there any nurseries that buy trees from private homes?
The trees in question are four palm and one redwood. All are fully grown.

I doubt that a nursery (or a private citizen) would buy a fully grown tree. Transplanting is risky and very expensive.

I would think the expense of removal, transport and resale would not compare favorably with wholesale purchases from nurseries.

I do not expect that you will find a buyer for a fully grown tree. However, you could call the type of companies that have those cone-like tree "scoops" cranes. You could also try landscaping companies. They might buy it from you for the purpose of reselling it to a customer. A tree service might buy it from you for the wood. The redwood might be of interest to arts and crafts type people to make things from it.

Being palms and a redwood, I would venture to say you live in CA.,but regardless: I’d be more tempted to call all the local and then further out, of the Landscapers in town. You’ll probably get quite a few bucks for them, so don’t give in to the first that offers. Tell them you’ll call them back about the offer. I’m a grower and I know landscapers can never get enough plants ,shrubs or trees the size they want. If full grown, they may ask how old

You may have trouble finding a buyer, but I’ve seen fairly large trees moved from one place to another. Wheatley is right that there may be interest from a landscaper. It is just a question of finding the right person who is interested in the tree. Search your area for landscaping services that offer tree transplanting. The right landscaper will have the equipment: http://www.windsorlawncare.com/tree_transplanting.htm
If there is a craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites.html) for your area you can also try putting pictures up in the appropriate for sale section. I have managed to sell some shrubs that way. (Not any full grown trees though.)

I’m not sure how much, if any, is paid and unless the trees are in excellent health and well shaped don’t expect any interest at all. Look for landscapers/nurseries who speciallize in mature trees in your yellow pages.
Try this palm nursery and see what they say: http://www.palmislandnursery.com/
Good luck. đŸ™‚
