Should I use Redwood or chemically-treated-Pine for a Deck and Fence?
Cost is an issue, but so is home value.

Check out the new resin coated wood that is available. Relatives just did a deck with it, looks sharp and there is not maintenance. That makes it worth the extra money.

the resin is nice looking, but I would go with pressure treated pine , it is within a budget

You might want to think about composite decking.
It looks good, lasts a long time and there is little maintainence. There is a good website that you might want to look at, they have all types of composite decking, fences, railings, etc.

How deep are you pockets?
They would have to be pretty deep for redwood.
Treated pine should be fine.
