Have you ever been robbed or shaken down by a police officer?
The police in Tenaha, Texas have apparently been shaking down people, often motorists who are persons of color, as a regular way of doing business. I had thought that such crimes were limited to some small jurisdictions such as Tenaha, but am hearing that the same thing goes on in large cities as well. I only know of it in certain counties in California (Alameda, Amador, Humboldt, Sacramento). How widespread a problem is it?

I would like to know what sources you are using for the claims you are making. Did you hear this in a bar or something you dreamed about or just really know in your gut is happening. Before you make accusations like these why don’t we back up our claims with some legitimate sources that reveal this is actually what is happening. I do believe that from time to time there are some bad apples that slip through and become police officers but wanton widespread misconduct as you describe is very hard to swallow without some legitimate sources other than your allegations. Believe 1% of what you read and 0% of what you hear unless you can verify and cite factual information from legitimate sources.

Some friends and I were having a party about a year back, we were all underage at the time and we were drinking Someone called the police and they showed up gave us all drinking tickets. Well after they gave us all drinking tickets they looked around the apartment for a bit and found about 5 adderall that someone had left on the kitchen counter. For those who dot know adderall is a schedule two narcotic(a felony in my state). A lot of the kids call it "poor mans coke" because it gives you somewhat the same effect as cocaine. In short terms it’s an upper. Well one cop took them and never said anything about them. I don’t know if it was because we were being so cooperative or he wanted them for his own personal usage, but thats my story.

During the 60’s police corruption was widespread in NYC.
Long time ago but you could get away w/ a( real or not) traffic violation by "paying off" the suggested amount.
Was once told I had gone through a $10 stop sign.
Shakedowns were common & the only color that mattered was "green"
Police are people too, and there are bad and good among them.
