What are the closest BIG redwood trees from SF bay area?
I’m looking for some big red wood trees that are close to the SF bay area. I’m not looking to travel more than 2 hours outside of the bay. Please let me know some of the best spots to see them. The closer to the bay area the better. An address that I can use in maps is best. Thanks for your time.

That would be Muir Woods National Monument. You can easily drive there within 2 hours, no matter what the traffic is like. But be forewarned. On the weekends especially it will be very crowded. If you want to enjoy the big redwoods in solitude, go a little further to Samuel Taylor, Butano, or Big Basin State Parks. You may still be able to reach these in two hours.

I think the road to Muir Woods is very crowded in the warm weather on weekends coming from San Francisco. It is easier to get to Big Basin near Santa Cruz as someone mentioned. The drive down Hwy 1 from San Fran is beautiful in the morning hours and from there you can get to Hwy 9 before you reach Santa Cruz. Or if you come from San Jose over Hwy 17, through the S.C. mountains, take Scotts Valley exit to Hwy 9 Big Basin. Check a map to see exactly.
There are a lot redwood trees in the bay area, the best area to see giant trees is in Muir Wood national monument in marin county, check http://www.nps.gov/muwo/planyourvisit/directions.htm
