Inexpensive vacation in California??
My mom, my brother, and I NEED a vacation. My father recently passed away and we have had so much on us we are about to break down. We live in central California, about 2 – 3 hours away from Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Atascadero, etc.. we have been there SO many times. I was born and raised here in this area and have hardly been anywhere else in California outside of what I just listed. I’ve been to a LOT of other states but never explored my own state. What are some nice calming vacation spots in California that are inexpensive? Do you think renting a hybrid car would be worth it to save money? Thanks!!

Try some of the smaller places in the Sierra Nevada, the Cascades, and along the North Coast. Drive Us 101 to Crescent City and work back toward Sonoma County staying in smaller cities. Or go to Lassen Park and Mt. Shasta and come back via California 49 through the Gold Country. As long as you avoid the bigger cities and popular tourist sites like Disneyland, travel in CA is not that expensive.
Renting a hybrid would save some money if the rental agency has them and does not charge a premium price for their rental.
