Looking for the best place to hike and camp in the Redwoods near San Farancisco.?
We’re considering Big Basin Redwoods State Park, we want to see the huge trees, is this the best place to go? I like the tent cabin feature at this park.
Anyone hike Big Basin? We just want to make sure its nice and has the big trees.

Samuel P. Taylor state park – hands down, redwoods, streams, huge, awesome camp sites, and close to SF. Hella close to SF.
Go there. You’ll love it.

Big Basin is not near San Francisco. It is near Santa Cruz. About 2 hours from San Francisco. You get there from Hwy 1 north of Santa Cruz. Hope this site will help.
I love Big Basin Redwoods. If you want a place much closer to San Francisco, consider Mount Tamalpais State Park. The Pantoll Campground in this park is right at the edge of Muir Woods National Monument, which has spectacular redwoods.
Further than Tamalpais, but not as far away as Big Basin, is Butano State Park. Nice redwoods, and easier to get camping reservations at than at Big Basin, in my experience.
